    3. Hello Listers, This is my first post to this list. We're interested in the surnames MacIntyre and MacColl (or MacCaul) as they are the only ancestors we know for the moment that come from Argyll. Would they be in this list descendants of Donald Mac Intyre and Mary MacColl ? My grandmother, born in Chile, Ada MacIntyre, was the daughter of Nicol or Nicholas MacIntyre, and his second wife, Catherine Griffith(s). They married in Chile. Nicol MacIntyre (b 1843 ... d 1914 Valparaiso, Chile) had married before to Margaret MacIntyre, in Scotland, but not sure where. They had a son, Donald MacIntyre, born in 1873, Callander, Perthshire. (Have not found him at IGI/Family Search). Margaret MacIntyre died, and Nicol and his son Donald left to Chile. Nicol's father was Donald MacIntyre and his mother Mary MacColl. (These names were remembered by an uncle ... who also remembers the place of birth, Fort William. In IGI Fort William isn't in the list of parishes. Tynribbie was also mentioned. In Appin?). - - - - - The other possibility is that I have skipped a generation upwards ...(It would be Nicol, then Donald his father, and then Donald his grandfather ...) I have found two different marriages for Donald MacIntyre and Mary MacColl at IGI/Family Search, ... unless they had the children first and decided to marry eight years later ! ;-)] - Marriage of Donald MacIntyre and Mary MacColl, 3rd June 1832 at Lismore, Argyll - Christening of Anne Mac Intyre 17th Feb 1820 and of Donald MacIntyre chrs 16th April 1822, Kilmallie, Argyll . Father Donald MacIntyre Mother Mary MacColl Kilmallie seems to be next to Fort William - - - - - As I haven't been able to find Nicol or Nicholas MacIntyre's first marriage to Margaret MacIntyre, nor the birth of his son Donald, nor the death of his first wife, it seems to me rather impossible for the moment to discern who are Nicol's parents. Any help or information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Joanna Murdoch Born in Chile Living in France

I can always monitor what's happening by browsing the Archives. I much regret having to 'unsubscribe' but I think it's for the best for a while. Regards Les

    3. I have just had a mail exchange with a member of a Rootsweb list in New Zealand which confirms it is happening around the world. May I suggest that it would be as well to limit enquiries otherwise we could find our mails bouncing. I realise that even if we limit them other lists might not. My purpose is to suggest what might happen in the next few days. Check your bouncing status with your server *from time to time, until it is resolved* if you can, otherwise just lie low and be patient; that's my advice anyway.. 3. BUT you know - if anyone has 2 email addresses they (I mean I did when I had two addresses) sometimes try to unsub the wrong address which makes it difficult for the administrator and automatic list-minder. It was hard to remember which one I used for each list so I was politely told off about this in the past. So the reminder at foot of emails may be useful? Mary

You don't say what your name interests are. I'm getting nowhere either but remain here, and in other groups just in case, though I understand the way you feel. I stay because I may be able to help someone. Maybe its time to post name interests again for the benefit of new members? > > Janet > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "PETER GRAY" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, December 04, 2006 6:41 PM > Subject: [ARGYLL] remove from list > > >> Please remove me from the Argyll list. 3. Hi all The address under which you are subscribed to a particular RootsWeb list, now appears (or will appear as it's a progressive update) in the footer that is automatically appended to each message by the MailMan software. Yes, it should be happening for everyone on this list, but rest assured only you see your email address. The main reason for this change is to assist with the RootsWeb lists being "white listed" with a group of ISPs that insist on blacklisting RootsWeb every time a server is changed/upgraded. It also acts as an aid for those who use one address to subscribe, and then have their mail forwarded to another. There are now no excuses <VBG> for using the wrong address to post or unsubscribe any more !!! And finally, please remember when replying to the list, that you should ALWAYS delete the footer as well as other text not relevant to your reply. Otherwise, yes, your e-mail address will appear above the new automatic footer. If everyone were to forget to carry out what is in fact a simple act of Netiquet, there would be chaos. Submitted examples of triple footers earlier in this thread should be enough reminder of what not to do. FWIW the consensus on the List-Admins List is that RootsWeb have added/ are adding the e-mail address as a multi purpose aid, and that it's a good idea - as always there are some who disagree - hey admin's are human too ;-) regards Peter NOT the ARGYLL list admin, although I did start it (the ARGYLL list). still ButeshireGenWeb Admin > Very Big SNIP

Hi - I seem to be getting mail intended for the List sent direct to me , one from Janet and another from Mary in Canada - I know who you both are and am not too bothered - however things seem to be in a "right boorach" today , perhaps by tommorow it will all be sorted . This happening to anyone else ? Regards Stewart Campbell
