On Highway 261 near the intersection of 76/378 and 261 in Sumter County, a few miles before Statesburg, stands a SC Historical Commission marker entitled "Early Charleston Road". It makes reference to this road as being called "The King's Highway". I thought I had read or heard somewhere that the River Road (Clarendon COuty road 76) which the Richardson Cemetery and one of the site's of St. Mark's CHurch (more SC Historical sites) is located on, was also referred to as the King's Highway. What present day road(s) really comprise the King's Highway?
