It seems like the polite thing to introduce myself to this list, which I have recently joined, even though I have no Sumter ancestors. You see, Sumter was my hometown from the age of eight until I moved to Chicago after college some years ago. And genealogy is my passion. So when I discovered this list, I thought perhaps you other members would not object to my reading in. To qualify myself, at least as a Sumterite, I attended Central Elementary School, which has long-since been torn down, albeit a half century after it should have been. So has McLaurin Junior High. I graduated from the old Edmunds High School, then from the University of South Carolina -- at least THATs still there. Home today is in suburban Baltimore. Return visits to Sumter will be sparse now. Last summer we sold my Moms house not far from the current high school, when we had to move her into a home near my sister in another state. My ancestors ARE all Carolinians and Georgians. Just not Sumterites. Any objections? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
