I thought that some of you might be interested in my granduncle Joe. E. Richburg's obituary from the local paper. I know that many of you keep up with all of the Richburg descendants. I will abstract it here. Some of you will receive it twice as you are on both lists, sorry for the double post. This is from the Item (Sumter's paper) January 1, 1998 Manning-Joe Edward Richburg, 90, husband of Pearl Baggett Richburg, died Wednesday, December 31, 1997, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 7, 1907, in Manning, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Richbourg and Carie Holladay Richburg. He was a retired farmer and a barber. Mr. Richburg was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors besides his wife of Manning include two sons, Harold Richbourg of Tupelo, Miss. and Bobby Richburg of Lugoff; two daughters, Betty R. Robinson of Orangeburg and Irence Brewer of Manning; three brothers, Walter Richburg and John Richburg both of Manning, and Laford Richburg of Greeleyville; a sister, Louise Ardis of Manning; 15 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Services will abe held aat 3:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Upright and the Rev. Larry Huges officiating. Burial will be in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Liberty Freewill Baptist Church or Clarendon Pilot Club.
