Hello to all, In reply to the discussion on "The Ruins." Our good friend from Sumter, Anne Harper Lee, was married at the Ruins in June of 1971. It was at the time the home of her maternal grandparents. We visited the place several times with Anne and her grandparents. They were lovely people, and we all discussed the "ghost" of the Singleton woman who supposedly inhabited the place. There was a beautiful kneeling prayer bench for one person that had belonged to Marie Antoinette, and a medical kit from a Confederate doctor - this was used as a door stop. The furniture was all amazing; old and wonderfully kept. I can honestly say that these were amazing visits! This was when my husband's parents, Samuel and Mildred KENNEDY PRINGLE, still lived in Sumter. It was my understanding that the Ruins had burned. I haven't talked to our friend in a couple of years, but I believe that my mother-in-law told me about it. Keep Looking UP! Best regards, Dolores Pringle Myrtle Beach, SC
