A few years back (two or three) a gentleman came down from Charlotte and brought an extensive history of the China Family....I can remember part of it....the first person that they were decended from was a man named Norton....he had a plantation that was straddled Turkey Creek on the Eastern side of the city....this land was the China Dairy Farm whne Dr. China was killed by Mrs. China in l924 (25?)....the City shops are there today......Think if you will contact the Sumter County Museum you will find genealogicl charts and pictures of many in the family......there were two China's here....one Dr. A. J. China was doctor and also druggest....on Main Street....(have Post Card of this) and the other was his son Dr. Archie J.
