Looking for information on family and ancestry of GEORGE SCOTT and MARTHA GIBSON who may have married in the Sumter District in 1808. They also could have married in another SC area. Their first child was named MEHETIBLE SCOTT. Was there a connection between them and MEHETIBLE SPRY (dau of Phineas Spry and Mary Huggins) who married ROBERT GIBSON in the Sumter area about 1750. Robert Gibson was dead by 1769 when James Gibson and Sarah Gibson his children administered his estate. Another son was Phineas Gibson. Could Martha Gibson who married George Scott have been a daughter or granddaughter of James Gibson (son of Robert Gibson and Mehetible Spry).
