Can anyone tell me more about a John GAYLE, in Sumter area of SC early. His house was used for Court before the first Court House was built circa 1804, apparently on his land which he purchased from Robert Singleton who obtained it from grantees thomas Sumter & Benjamin Mitchell. Additional info on him is on page 69 of Cassie Nicholas "Historical Sketches of Sumter Co., It's Birth and Growth". Robert Singleton married a Sarah Gayle, apparently some relation to John.
