To all who inquired: The South Carolina Historical Society, located in the "Fireproof Building" at 100 Meeting Street in Charleston, will be holding its annual meeting and luncheon in Charleston on Saturday, 4 March. It is an all-day affair. First, there is the annual meeting of the members at the buisness meeting at 10:00 am. A sherry reception will be held at 11:30 am followed by the luncheon at 12:00, both held at the Charleston Place Hotel. The speaker at the luncheon is historical novelist John Jakes, author of the eight-volume Kent Family Chronicles and The North and South Trilogy, as well as other works. Following the address will be a tour of historic homes along Murray Boulevard. After the tour will be a cocktail reception. Tickets to the all-day event are $50.00 each.
