    3. Are your Hayne ancestors from Rowan County, NC? The Haynes (Haines) families of that county seem to come from two sources: PA and NJ. They all stem from a Richard Haynes (Naines) from England. I was recently told that there is also a Hayne (Haine) family that is from Germany who originally spelled the name Hein. Can someone explain to me why a family with the same roots will have an "s" added on the end of the name among northern cousins and will not have the same in the south? I have run into this phenomena several times.
