Ok. Hope I don't lose anyone on this one. Now I read that "The earliest settlers to Sumter were in Prince Frederick's Parrish, but the parish church was miles away, near Georgetown". So Sumter started out as Prince Federicks Parrish and grew so rapidly they added another parrish and called it St. Mark's? This happened in 1757 that St. Mark's was added. Ok. Now. This is where I need help. The family I'm trying to locate is showing in the census of 1870 under Privateer, but one of the children showed up in another census book alone under St. Peters Parrish, Beaufort??? Is this possible and could someone enlighten me on the proximity of St. Peters Parrish, and is this possible? I know where today the location of the Privateer area is in Sumter, because the decendents live near there now. Let me know if I confused anyone. Thanks in advance. Felisza
