Cindy, Thanks so very much for your kind offer to photo Col. Benbow's gravestone! I have often gone to your SC webpages and am delighted that the rosters of the 23rd SCV are included there. My actual relationship to Colonel BENBOW is that of first cousin, three times removed. I do not believe that he ever married or had a family and, therefore, he has no direct line descendents... at least none I can find. I am making him a personal project of mine because I think he was quite a fascinating person, a brave leader, and that he deserves to be remembered. I was not aware of the "Henry Laurens Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans" that you say was commissioned last year. ...Can you recommend anyone associated with that group who I might correspond with? I did here from Windy, the archivist, who contacted me almost as soon as I posted this yesterday!.. and I'm just about to e-mail her now to order the material available at the archives. I sincerely appreciate your help with this request.. (and will happily reimburse for any film, processing, or mailing costs) Thanks again!
