    3. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1920 JONESVILLE, Feb 2.- On Saturday, January 31st, at 6 o'clock, the home of MR. and MRS. JAMES R. LITTLEJOHN was the scene of a pretty wedding when their youngest daughter, MISS EMILY ELIZABETH LITTLEJOHN was married to MR. CHARLES BENTON MARTIN of Cowpens. Only the immediate families and a few close friends were invited to witness the ceremony, which was performed by MR. BLACKMAN, the Methodist Church pastor. ----------------------------- Tuesday, March 9, 1920. DEATHS ELIAS BURNETT, a well known Confederate veteran of the county passed away at his home near Chesnee yesterday, after a lingering illness. MR. BURNETT was 97 years of age and was highly respected veteran of the war, having fought during the entire four years and was highly respected in his community. The deceased is survived by a large family circle, among them being his widow and 5 children as follows: J.M. BURNETT, MISS POLY BURNETT, MRS. MANISS McDOWELL, MRS. L. ELMA LANCASTER and MRS. J.M. McCALLISTER. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Arrowood church by the REV. JONES, pastor of the church. ------------------------------ PAULINE, March 15 - The work of the new church at Friendship is progressing nicely under the management of N.W. BEARDEN, contractor. - MRS. J.B.M. WOFFORD has returned from Spartanburg where she has been visiting MRS. ALBERT RIDDLE. - MISS NANNIE O'SHIELDS and MRS. W.S. WILLIAMS spent Tuesday afternoon with MISS ILA HATCHETTE. - MISSES JENIE , PEARL and MAGGIE SWEAT spent Sunday with MISSES IDA and LEILA GWINN. - The friends of MR. and MRS. B.F. WEST are glad to know they are moving back into this community. - MR. and MRS. M.D. SMITH announced the birth of a daughter on Thursday, March 11. - MR. and MRS. R.E. SELLARS spent Sunday with MR. and MRS. G.A. MORROW. - There will be a box supper given at the Dutchman school house next Saturday night. The public is invited to attend. ------------------------------ Monday, Feb. 2, 1920. JOSEPH MILLER WILL MAKE HOME IN NEW YORK JOSEPH MILLER, who for the past 13 years has been owner and proprietor of the Standard Cloak Company, has sold a half-interest in that concern to ABE H. MORRIS, of Simmons and Co., and will leave for New York city next week, where he will enter business. MR. MILLER will leave the city during the week to make his home and will move his family north in the early spring. His friends and associates here will regret to learn that he is leaving the city. - BRATTON DEAD AT YORK News was received in Spartanburg this morning of the death of MASON BRATTON, at his home at York, S.C., earlier in the day, after an illness of several weeks. The wife of MR. BRATTON, who was MISS MARGARET COFIELD, daughter of the late GEORGE COFIELD, of this city and 3 daughters; { so it says } MISSES MARGARET, GEORGE and VIRGINIA BRATTON survive. MR.BRATTON and family lived many years at Gutherieville, where he operated a drug store. Within the past year they changed their place of residence to York. MRS. PAUL PETTY, a sister of MRS. BRATTON, expects to attend the funeral in York. - VERNON TINSLEY, 77, a well known resident of the Drayton village, died yesterday at a local hospital. The funeral will be held from the chapel of M.W.BOBO, North Church street, this afternoon. Burial will be at Oakwood. He is survived by a son, who lives in the west, and two brothers, R.M. of Clifton and JAMES of Inman. His wife predeceased him by many years. - BUTLER DEWEY, 14 year old, died this morning at an early hour at the home of his parents, on North Fairview avenue, in the Beaumont Mill village. The funeral will be held tomorrow. Announcement concerning the arrangements will be made later. ------------------------------ nancie o. - " We had a beautiful snow last night".
