    3. Sunday, August 12, 1934. LANFORD - JOHNSON REUNION The annual reunion of the LANFORD and JOHNSON family was held last Sunday at Lanford Station. Over a hundred and fifty were present. The meeting was called to order by B.W. JOHNSON, president and J.E. JOHNSON, Vice-pres., led in prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, MRS. J.M. FLEMING. Short talks were given by FRED COX, GILBERT COX, EUGENE JOHNSON, the REV. J.T. LITTLEJOHN and DR. FLEMING. As the talks were concluded, MRS. ALICE RANDALL announced that the dinner was served. B.W. VANCE and EVERETT JOHNSON were in charge of the barbecue, assisted by MR. and MRS. T.L. HARNEY. Although a number of people who usually attended the reunion were missing, others were introduced for the first time. They were WINFIELD JOHNSON and family of Dale, N.C.; the REV. J.T. LITTLEJOHN and his mother of Bishopville; MRS. JAMES BYARS, son, FRANK and daughter, MARY of St. Petersburg, Fla. B.W. JOHNSON'S father, the only one of his generation left, told an interesting story of his youth when he felled trees and built his home in the woods which is now the center of the progressive town of Lanford. Aunt LIZZIE CANNON, the last of the aunts of the 50 year old group, was missed at the reunion this year. She died on June 25 at the age of 94. The following officers were elected; B.W. JOHNSON, J.E. JOHNSON, MRS. J.M. FLEMING, MRS. C.D. COX, and MRS. R.A. WASH. ------------------------------- Monday, August 20, 1934. WHITE MUCH IMPROVED ED Z. WHITE, JR., seriously injured in an auto accident near the airport several weeks ago, is able to sit up in a wheel chair, it was reported at the Mary Black Hospital Monday. MR. WHITE'S condition had been serious until recently. He is the son of MR. and MRS. E.Z. WHITE of Spartanburg and is well known here. --- MISS VIRGINIA WYATT has returned to her home on South Church street, after spending 2 weeks with friends and relatives in Pinehurst, N.C. --- RASH CALLED AWAY Patrolman CARL RASH of the Spartanburg Police dept. has been called out of the city by the death of his brother near Asheville, N.C. MR. RASH had just completed his vacation during which he visited relatives in N.C. , when his brother died. MRS. RASH has been visiting her sister, MRS. GARRETT RAMSEY, near Marshall, N.C. for sometime, having been called there on account of the illness and death of her mother. --- MR. and MRS. J.S. COBB and daughter, GRACE of Brawley street; MISS RENA CANNON and MR. and MRS. J.B. RHINEHART, of Pacolet Mills, visited this week at the Moody Bible College, Chicago. ------------------------------ nancie o.
