    3. Friday, August 31, 1934. PACOLET HOME IS HIT BY LIGHTNING Pacolet, Aug. 31 - A terrific electrical storm struck Pacolet Wednesday night, lasting for about two hours. The home of W.M. BROWN was damaged to some extent during the storm. MR. BROWN is of the opinion the lightning was carried in on the electrical wires. A front window and casement of the house were knocked out and plastering shattered from the walls. MR. and MRS. BROWN suffered from shock. MRS. BROWN also suffered a slight burn. This is the second home to be struck by lightning within the past week. --------------------------- VARIED SOCIAL ACTIVITIES ARE NOTED IN GAFFNEY Gaffney, Aug. 25 - MR. and MRS. M.P. WHITE of Greenwood, spent Saturday night with MRS. White's parents, MR. and MRS. J.R. McCULLOUCH, stopping en route to visit MR. WHITE'S parents at their home near Staunton, Va. - MRS. MARY PARRISH, of Richmond, Va., is the guest of her parents, DR. and MRS. J.N. NESBITT. - MRS. BUTLER TATE, MISS KATHLEEN JONES, MISS SUE JONES, MISS SADIE WEST and HARRY JONES attended the celebration of the 13th anniversary of the Highland Sanitarium at Asheville, Wednesday. MISS JOSEPHINE WARREN, niece of MRS. TATE and former graduate of the City Hospital here was among those receiving post-graduate diplomas at the Asheville Institution. - MRS. J.W. ELMORE has returned to her home in Knoxville, Tenn., after a visit to her daughter, MRS. H.L. KINGHAM. - MRS. JOE MOORE and children, JOE JR., and MARY of Tuscumbia, Ala., spent several days with Mrs. Moore's aunt, MRS. R.E. HUMPHRIES. - MRS. OSCAR HUSKEY, of High Point, and sons, OSCAR JR., and JONES were also guests of MR. and MRS. HUMPHRIES Monday. They were accompanied home by MRS. MOORE and children, who will be their guests for some time. - MRS. E.L. LITTLEJOHN has returned to her home in Jonesville after a visit of several days to her daughter, MRS. PAUL MAZYXK. - MR. and MRS. DON HUMPHRIES, their son and two daughters, of Corsicana, Tex., have returned home after a visit of several weeks to relatives here. - Little MISS BETTY McGUINN has returned from Charlotte where she visited her grandmother, MRS.
