I remember peeling apples with my great grandmother and she told me if you are able to remove the whole peel in one piece, you can throw it over your shoulder and it will land in the shape of the initial of the person you will marry. [This may have been designed to get the young girls to help with the peeling!] My grandmother told me that her father always said that it was bad luck to kill a cricket in the house, you had to catch it and throw it back outside. To this day I can't bring my self to kill one, I have to keep catching them! Lisa
