These men, all listed as Capt, Major, or Surgeon USA, and Charles Bankard, listed as assessor for the Internal Revenue, are staying at a hotel run by Alfred Tollison in Spartanburg Village. They must have been staying there for several months because one of the men, John King, has a child, Estelle, who was born in March in South Carolina. Any help or ideas about this would be great! I know that Charles Bankard was a Lieutenant in the First Maryland Cavalry. That is why I think there is a connection between Bankard and these other men, as they are listed as members of the military. thanks, MR Jan A Bankert
