ALLEN is attending the annual meeting of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society held at Greenwood, S.C. --John ANDERSON and his daughter Miss Louise ANDERSON, spent Thursday and Friday with R.C. JOHNSON. --Miss Nora JOHNSON is visiting her sister, Mrs. BOLTON, of Hobbysville. --Miss Dot COOPER is visiting her sister, Mrs. Henry JOHNSON. --Miss Daisy ALLEN spent Sunday night and Monday with Miss Kate HOLCOMB. --Miss Mary ALEXANDER spent a day and night with B.L. ALLEN's family. LENOIR HAPPENINGS [June 24] --EASLER Bros. and Earl GEORGE of this place have begun to thresh wheat and oats. --Rev. J.N. ISOM and wife of Cherokee visited at P.L. SPROUSE's last Friday. --Glenn and Wesley ISOM of Cherokee spent yesterday with Wallace and Boyd SPROUSE of this place. WEST END --Miss Auroral GLENN, of Pelham is visiting her sister, M.H. DANIEL on Wofford Street. --Miss Maggie WRIGHT of Gastonia, N.C., is spending a while with her brother, B.B. WRIGHT on Wofford street. --Miss JENNINGS of Walhalla is now with her sister, Mrs. John LANFORD on Wolfe street. --Mrs. A.W. CALDWELL is at home again after spending a week at Fair Forest. Her mother, Mrs. George FRYE, is visiting her now. --D.F. EZELL of Landrum is a juror at court this week and lodging on the Heights. LOCAL AND SPECIAL [Spartanburg] --E.L. WILSON has secured a contract from the Pacolet Manufacturing Co. to recover cotton at Grindall Shoals. NEWS FROM GAFFNEY [June 25] --Will SARRATT, who killed Rich HALE some time ago over a game of cards at Blacksburg, was caught near Fort Mill last Sunday morning. SARRATT was working at Wiley's dam. The arrest was made by Deputy B.S. LIPSCOMB, who brought the prisoner to the city Monday night and lodged him in jail. --Allen JEFFRIES, brother of our clerk of court, is very ill at his home near town. He has been ill for some time, but has taken a turn for the worse. His friends entertain very little hope of his recovery. --Miss Lola CURTIS who has been visiting in Spartanburg, returned to the city Monday afternoon. Her friend, Miss TOLLESON, did not accompany her as was expected. --Arthur DILLARD of Spartanburg was in Gaffney Sunday.
