    2. "Carolina Spartan" Issue February 7, 1883 MARRIED: On the 21st instant, by the Rev. J.G. Carter, Mr. Hensdale ROBBINS to Miss Sallie LITTLEJOHN; all of Spartanburg county, S.C. Miss Ella FOWLER is still seriously ill at her mother's residence. She has the sympathy of many friends in her affliction. Issue: February 14, 1883 A little daughter of Mr. GROCE near Greer's Station was badly bitten by a mad dog. She took convulsions next day and died. Next Thursday evening, Mr. Charles H. CARLISLE, of Clifton and Miss Alice PYLES of Spartanburg, will be married at the residence of Mrs. PYLES on Main street. To these young people the Spartan sends many good wishes for a happy and useful future. MARRIED: --Tuesday, the 13th of February, 1883, by Rev. J.B. Campbell, Major A. H. KIRBY and Mrs. E. B. ANDERSON, both of Spartanburg. --Thursday, the 8th of February, 1883, by Dr. Whiteford Smith, Mr. L. T. LESTER and Miss Julia LEE, both of Spartanburg. --At Cowpens, S.C. on the 12th of February, 1883, by Alonzo Tanner, Trial Justice, Thomas PETTY and Miss Elizabeth THOMPSON, all of Spartanburg county. [cut off] Issue: February 21, 1883 Dr. Romeo HICKS of Island Ford, N.C., was married Tuesday evening the 13th instant, to Miss C.V. DICKERSON of Rutherfordton. Married Tuesday, the 6th of February, 1883, at the residence of the bride's mother, in Union county, by the Rev. C. Scaife, Miss T.E. DUNCAN and Mr. W.J.D. WILLIAMS of Black's Station, York county, S.C. Mrs. Sarah E. STONE celebrated her 84th birthday last Friday. Her pastor, Mr. Law went to her house and with a few friends held a thanksgiving service. She is quite active both in mind and body and bears the weight of years with becoming grace and dignity. Issue: February 28, 1883 A small house belonging to Pink EAVES, colored, situated on the western side of town, was burned about 9 o'clock last Tuesday evening. Pink was not insured. Henry OWENS was brought to town last week and pronounced insane, and sent to the asylum. He came from Edgefield county last May and has been teaching school in the neighborhood of Bethesda Church, near Glendale. His family consists of wife and four children. He is about 40 years old. Mrs. T.H. LAW has been quite sick for several weeks. She is not better and goes to Charleston to day, Wednesday, to try the salt air. He many friends hope to see her back one of these days much improved. Mrs. Clough FARRAR of Union county is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J.A. FOSTER.
