    3. November 21, 1925. R.D. ALEXANDER Funeral services for R.D. ALEXANDER, 78, of Fair Forest, one of the survivors of Company I, 4th South Carolina Volunteers, C.S.A., who died at his home Friday afternoon after a short illness , will be held from Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Reidville Sunday by REV. J.B. BOZEMAN, pastor, REV. G.W. SHELL, REV. E.L. JOYNER of Fairforest and REV. M. GRIFFIN of Arcadia. Masonic ceremonies will be conducted at the grave by Arcadia Lodge No. 285. MR. ALEXANDER enjoyed the distinction of having been a Master Mason for 56 years and a member of Poplar Springs church for 36 years. He was born near Roebuck and entered the Confederate army at the age of 16, participating in later battles of the war. In the stormy reconstruction days he joined the Ku Klux Klan and after its power waned , left the state for a time to avoid arrest by Federal authorities. He returned following the restoration of white government in 1876. Other members of the Confederate army company still alive are W.S. CALDWELL, city, T.M. LEONARD, Reidville, and a MR. DuPRE and a MR. BRANDENBURG, whose addresses are not known here but who are believed to be still living by members of MR. ALEXANDER'S family. Surviving are his widow, MRS. LOUELLA ALEXANDER and the following children: MRS. H. HARRELSON, Woodruff, MISS FLORELLE ALEXANDER, Asheville Normal School, Asheville, N.C., W.M. ALEXANDER, Fairforest, R.J. ALEXANDER, Sebring, Fla., and C.D.
