I would make > an efort to go there. > Columbia is so far out of his way coming from GA.  Greenville Co. library has everything the archives does except originals.  Plus the archives now has such limited hours it is inconvient to the ones of us in the upstate.  Greenville also has a ton of books that the archives doesn't have.  In my opinion Greenville has the best SC room in the state.  There hours are good only the parking is a draw back and there is a parking garage about two blocks down.  If he comes up I-85 from Ga. he passes right through Greenville on his way to Spartanburg.  Columbia is in the middle of the state probably 2 hours from Spartanburg
