GAULT, who has been employed at The Bee Hive, has gone to Charlotte, N.C., to accept a position with the Southern Express Co. --S.F. McCANTS and W.W. FANT will represent the local lodge No. 30 at the meeting of the Grand Lodge Knights of Honor of the state at Aiken on April 15. --J. P. CHASE, formerly of Spartanburg, but who recently held a position with Cely Bros. of Greenville, has accepted a position with a Laurens foundry. --The papers in the case of Archie RICE have been sent from Columbia and are in the hands of the probate judge. RICE will be examined as to his sanity this week. --W. M. JONES, receiver of the Morgan Iron Works, will sell at the shop tomorrow the personal assets of the concern, consisting of various kinds of building material. --The funeral of the dead engineer Ed. MILLER, killed in the wreck of No. 36 Monday morning was held yesterday in Atlanta. Mr. MILLER was known to a large number of railroad men and others here. --Mrs. M.C. FOWLER went to Ridgeway, S.C., today to attend the marriage of her niece, Miss Marie MOORE. The marriage will take place tomorrow. The groom is William WILLIAMS of Walhalla. --G. R. MAHAFFEY has been appointed a notary public. Mr. MAHAFFEY's headquarters are at the corner of Johnson and Howard streets. His appointment was secured through the influence of Representative Jesse MAHAFFEY. FLATWOODS [March 25] --Mumps and smallpox are prevalent in this community now. --There will be a school entertainment at this place Fridaynight. The community has a cordial invitation to attend. --Miss Addie BOGAN of Glenn Springs visited her sister at this place recently. --Joe WHITE visited his family last Friday night. --D.A.
