BIOGRAPHY WYCH GOODWIN Wych Goodwin, the son of Mark and Tabitha Parsons Goodwin, Jr., was born in Laurens County, South Carolina, in 1807. (Mark Goodwin, Jr. was the son of Revolutionary War soldier Mark Goodwin, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth. Mark, Sr. was dead by 1796.) Wych married Rachel Powers before 1828, and they had two sons: John P. Goodwin (1828), who married Monima Davis and died in Lawrence County in 1818; and Lewis Goodwin (1859), who married Lunetta Ogden and died in Lynn, Arkansas, in 1859. Wych then relocated to Alabama, where he married Maria Sharp on Feb. 2, 1836. While in Alabama they were to have a number of children: Pleasant (1837); George W. (1839), who first married Leah Williams (1870), and then Martha B. Dawson (1883), and who died in 1895; Peter (1842), who married Lydia Ann Wann (1865); Mark (1843), who had four wives, Frances Howell, Sarah J. Saffell (1873), Margaret Williams (1876), and Mrs. Martha Ann Hector LaFerney; Samuel (1845), who married Ardalica Hall; Francis (! 1846); and Mary E. (1847), who married Jacob Fortenberry in 1867, and died in 1873. By 1850, Wych and Maria were in Ruddell Township of Independence County with Lewis, Pleasant, George, Peter, Mark, Mary, and Emily, four months old, who had been born in Arkansas. The family apparently relocated to Lawrence County sometime before 1852; Wych died at Driftwood in Lawrence County in 1852. The 1860 census lists Maria in Lawrence County, living with Pleasant, George, Peter, Mark, Samuel, Mary, and Emeline. Emily (Emeline) was to marry Jackson Fortenberry in 1868.
