1929 U.D.C. Notes: South Carolina- The Daughters of the South Carolina Division have been instrumental in having the legislature make an increase this year in Confederate pensions. The ranks are thinning fast and the remaining few deserve this increase. A special appropriation of $100. to clean the statue of Gen. Wade Hampton, on the capitol grounds, was also secured by the Daughters, the need of this having been brought before the State convention at Columbia in December and the legislature petitioned accordingly. The birthday of Robert El. LEE was fittingly observed at the Confederate Ho0me, Columbia, where there are 58 veterans and 16 Girls of the Sixties, the program being arranged by the Central Committee. MISS KATIE HUTCHINSON leader, of Rock Hill Chapter E.M. Law has a membership of 100, while the Chapter at Greer, MISS BERTIE SMITH, leader, has about 80 members. ---- Free post- nancie --- Nancie O'Sullivan --- drayton5@earthlink.net --- EarthLink: It's your Internet.
