Spartanburg Herald-- Thurs., 10 Dec 1942 J.T. BRIGHT Duncan, Dec. 9----- J.T. (Bud) Bright, 70-year-old farmer of Duncan, route 1, died today at 2:15 a.m. at his home after having been in declining health four years. Mr. Bright was a lifelong resident of the Duncan community. Mr. Bright was the son of the late Calvin Bright and Mrs. Sallie Lynch Bright. He was a member of the Fairmont Methodist church and of the Reidville Woodmen of the World camp, No. 288. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Rogers Bright; four daughters, Misses Macie, Leona and Sadie Bright of Duncan, route 1, and Miss Estelle Bright of Spartanburg; seven sons, Jeb and Calvin Bright of Duncan, route 1, Boyce Bright of Lyman, Golden Bright of Greer,route 1, Pvt. Johnny Bright of Keesler field, Miss., Pvt. Clarence Bright of the United States Army, somewhere in the Southwest Pacific war zone, and Houston Bright of Wellford, route3; two brothers, S.C. and R.A. Bright of Wellford, route3 and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Woods Chapel Methodist church, with the Rev. J.A. Barrett and the Rev. B.M. Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lloyd and Charley Bright, Tom and Wilson Gaston, Luther and Harvey Rogers. Members of the Reidville W.O.W will comprise the honorary escort. The body was to be removed at 5 p.m. today from the Wood mortuary to the residence.
