Hello Judith, I saw this message on the Spartanburg Rootsweb list. Didn't recognize your name from any prior correspondence, so I thought I would try to drop you a line. I am a Lindsey from a line that appears in Boone County, Missouri about 1832... very, very early for Missouri. There are two Lindsey males, Willis Pinkney Lindsey, born 3-20-1826 in Spartanburg, SC, and his brother (?) Leasel Littleberry Lindsey who was also born in Spartanburg, but (alternately) in either 1812 or 1814. Both are buried in Missouri, and Leasel is buried by his mother, Elizabeth (Warford... or Wafford, Wofford) who was born in SC in 1789 and died in 1866. I have looked for these men's ancestors for twenty years, and have come to suspect that they originally came from NC or VA (possibly Surry County, NC). They patented beside each other but took opposite sides in the War between the States. The name Leasel has always made me think there was a connection to the Beardens, while the Pinkney name (used for several generations) has made me wonder about Bobos or Lees. It seems I've found about every other Lindsey line from Spartanburg but my own. Does any of this tie to your family. There are many family names in the Boone, Mo Federal Census of 1830 and 1840 that are SC names (Bostick, Wingo, etc.), so maybe I will get lucky. Best To All, Phil Lindsey
