C. was the guest of Miss Maidie CLEMENT last week. -Miss Cora McMILLIN is visiting her sister near Inman. -Prof. John L. McWHORTER has received his appointment as magistrate at this place. CENTER SAYINGS: -Gamon JOLLY had a house raising last Monday. -P. D. CARTEE has had lightning rods erected on his residence. -J. T. JOLLY, who has been in bad health for some time is slowly improving. -Miss May CLARK and Mrs. Sallie EZELL, teachers at this place, visited Miss Corrie CUDD at Cherokee Saturday night. -Aubrey CALDWELL of Inman and Miss Ela ALVERSON of Campobello visited at H. J. McKINNRY's Saturday. -Luther EZELL of Spartanburg visited our town recently, also Charles CLARK of Landrum paid us a flying visit. -Theodore CUDD of Cherokee passed through our town on Saturday. -Rev. Mr. HAMRICK filled his appointment at Cooley Springs, although the weather was very inclement. MT. ZION NOTES: -Mrs. Alice HORTON is quite sick at this writing. -Rev. L.L. EZELL of Woodruff will fill his appointment at the Mt. View Baptist Church at this place Friday and Sunday. -E. F. WALL went to Spartanburg today on business. -J. Y. and W. H. HARTON have finished sawing shingles over in Happy Hollow. -Z. W. WALL has been very busy the past week hauling the rocks off his farm, preparing for another crop. -C. D. LOVELACE and wife of Line, N. C. are visiting J. N. F. BLACKWELL and family. -D. M. WALL is visiting friends and relatives at Inman. -E. C. CANTRELL of Inman paid a flying visit to J. M. WALL and family Friday. CRESCENT CRINKLES: -There is a lot of sickness in our community. Mrs. B. F. POLLARD, Mrs. Geneva BRAGG, and Mrs. Mary HUET are all ill. -Boon NEWMAN has another little daughter at his house. -Vernon HILL and Mrs. Elsie POLLARD have been visiting at Greers. -Prof. L. W. HUGHES lost a fine cow last week. -Nelson JONES has his new residence completed and will soon be ready to occupy it. VICTOR NEWS: -Pink LAUGHTER, a white tenant on A. BURTON's place had a bad accident last week. While trying to get on a wagon his foot slipped and he fell in front of a wheel shich passed over his right thigh bruising it very badly. He cannot walk and will not be able to work for some time. Fortunately no bones were broken. -Ellie ALLISON has gone to Mississippi on business. -T. F. ALLISON and wife are visiting near Gowansville. -Asa B. FOSTER, the superintendent of J. B. LEE's plantation on North Pacolet is going to try for the prize offered for the best acre of cotton. [Spartanburg]: Friends here of Dr. Henry M. HOLMES, formerly pharmacist at LIGON's drug store, will be interested to learn that he has sold out his drug business in Union to Dr. F. C. DUKE.
