1941 Obituaries Gaffney, Sept. 12- The funeral of WILLIAM E. LAVENDER, 85, retired farmer, who died here Thursday after suffering a stroke of paralysis a week ago, will be conducted Sat. at the Shuford- Hatcher mortuary. MR. LAVENDER is survived by two daughters, MRS. J.J. McMURRAY and MRS. G.E. BROOME, Gaffney; 2 sons, T.A. and J.D. LAVENDER, Gaffney; a brother, P.D. LAVENDER of Tucapau; 22 grandchildren and 19 g-grandchildren. The REV. C.A. KIRBY will officiate , with burial in the Oakwood cemetery. ----- Feb. 13- JAMES A. BRIGHT, 73, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, MRS. J.M. LOVE, N.Converse St. He had been ill 3 weeks. Besides his daughter, he is survived by 2 sons, D.L., Greenville and L.M. BRIGHT, Moore; 3 brothers, R.A., C.B. BRIGHT, Wellford and J.T. BRIGHT, Duncan; one sister, MRS. LULA JOHNSON, Greer; and 8 grandchildren. MR. BRIGHT was a native of Spartanburg county; the son of the late CALVIN and MRS. SARAH JANE LYNCH BRIGHT. His wife, the former MISS LILLIE JARRETT, died 3 years ago.
