    2. CAROLINA SPARTAN----18 MARCH 1885 Calvin Bright died the 12th instant, near Duncan's in his 75th year. He was confined by the family in a small cabin in 1858 as a lunatic and did not recover up to time of his death. Over one-third of his life he was confined in a cell by himself and well cared for by his family. CAROLINA SPARTAN---- 6 MAY 1885 Some tine ago a short notice was given of the death of Mr. CULVIN BRIGHT. Some additional facts may prove interesting. He was born in 1810 near Duncan's and began life for himself about 1830. He was a farmer all his days and followed his calling with great industry and energy. He acquired enough property to make him and his family comfortable. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church. In 1858 his mind gave way after a severe spell of sickness and his children were obliged to keep him confined. This they did for nearly 28 years, giving him kind and watchful attention. He was buried at Wood's Chapel, Rev. C.D. Mann conducting the services. It is hoped that his relatives and neighbors will imitate his piety and virtues and be spared the great affection that clouded more than half of his mature life.
