1918 ARKWRIGHT WOMAN DIED HERE FRIDAY July 27- MRS. MILLIE SMITH, 28 years of age, died Friday night at 11:30 o'clock at her home in Arkwright. MRS. SMITHis survived by her husband, W.B. SMITH and numerous other relatives. Funeral services and interment will take place at Philadelphia church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. ----- July 27- MRS. SARAH E. SWINK, 51 years of age, died at the home of her daughter on Liberty St. this morning at 6:30 o'clock. A daughter of MRS. SWINK died in this city a few weeks ago. The body was sent to Salisbury, N.C. at 2:50 o'clock this afternoon and the funeral services will take place in the N.C. city. ----- July 27- W.G. BRANNON, a well known and prominent citizen of Campobello died at his home near that place yesterday at 2 :o'clock. The deceased was 74 years of age. Funeral services took place at Campobello church at 1 o'clock and interment in the Campobello cemetery. ----- July 27- MISS SARAH CAROLINE ESTELLE BATES and ASBURY STEVENS ROBERTS, both of Gaffney were married in Spartanburg this morning, by Judge J.J. EARLE. - MR. and MRS. J.H. WILLIAMS have returned from Gaffney where they have been visiting their daughter, MRS. J.H. GOFORTH . - MRS. A.M. BELUE is visiting her daughter, MRS. J.C. INGRAM in Sylvia, N.C. - W.P. WILLIAMS who has been on the sick list for the past week is much better. - MISS LORNA VARNER of Moore, visited relatives here last week. - MISS EMMA CLARK left last week for Greer, where she will begin teaching near there. - MISS CORA B. and brother, ARTHUR E. BELUE of Spartanburg are the guest of their grandparents, MR. and MRS. A.M. BELUE. - MR. A.B. VARNER, who was stricken with paralysis some days ago, died at the home of his father-in-law, MR. T.D. EDWARDS on Wednesday. He was buried here in the Methodist cemetery , the services conducted by REV. R.C. BOULWARE. - Rev. ORR , who has been called to preach here at the Baptist church, has moved his family from Asheville and will occupy the parsonage on Main St. - The Boy Scouts of this place will leave Monday on an outing for a week or more. They expect to 'Hike' to Chimney Rock and other points of interest. Among those are; Messrs. HAROLD STEWART, MANNING BELUE, HAROLD WHEELER, EDMUND CALDWELL, OWING O'SHIELDS, PAUL DORMAN, ALAN RHEA, RICHARD BOULWARE, JAMIE WALDROP, JULIAN and HOWARD WALL and REID KELLEY. The scoutmaster are Rev. BOULWARE and LOYLIS WATERS. - J.F. FARMER has accepted a position as bookkeeper at the oil mill with J.B. CALDWELL. - MRS. R.B. MONK , who has been sick is much better. ----- WHITESTONE NEWS Sept.2- MRS. CLAUD WEST and little son, of Charleston are visiting relatives here. - MISS LOLA HAYES is visiting MRS. S.J. ISBELL at Walhalla. - Protracted services are being held at Antioch church near here by pastor, REV. C.M. PEELER. - WELLS FOSTER of the Coast Artillery; stationed at Fort Moultrie, is spending a few days here with his parents, MR. and MRS. J.K. FOSTER. - J.T. MORROW and children spent several days last week with relatives at Columbia. - MRS. J.T. FOSTER went to Pauline Tuesday to see her granddaughter who is very ill. - HAYDEN HARVEY will leave for Camp Jackson for training on Thursday. - MR. and MRS. W.V. HARVEY and MRS. F.M.
