    3. 1913 WHITESTONE June 16- MISS LOIS TINSLEY of Union is visiting her sister, MRS. W.H. LANCASTER this week. - MISS MYRA L. WHITE returned to her home from Charleston where she attended the Confederate college this past session. - A.W. WEST went to Spartanburg Wed. The many friends of MR. WEST regret to learn he is not improving in health. - MISS WATSON of Chester is visiting with MISS PEARL MORROW. - MISS ESTELLE SMITH of Pacolet, visited at J.E. WHITE'S Sunday. - MR. and MRS. JAMES LAYTON of Pauline visited relatives here recently. -MISS JANIE FOSTER , Messrs. MILTON WHITE, S.J. FOSTER and L.C. DILLARD attended the commencement sermon at Wofford Sunday. - PROF. CLAUD McARTHUR has accepted the position as principal of White Stone school. ----- The many friends of MR. J.C. ARCHER will regret to know of his illness in the city hospital. For the past month he has not been well and his condition became worse. His daughters, MRS. DeLorine, of Sumter and MRS. Doe?denhoff of Charlotte called and are at the home of their mother on North Church street. ----- MRS. J. CHOICE EVINS entertained yeterday at a luncheon in honor of MISS NELLIE CARRINGTON. The engagement of Miss Carrington and Dr. SPARKMAN is of unusual interest in the city. The wedding will take place in October. ----- At 'Millbrook' the country home of MRS. R. LaFAYETTE JONES, near Asheville, MISS KATHLEEN ELENRA JONES and MR. ALEXANDER COPELAND of this city were united in marriage on June 12, relatives and friends were present. The best man was MR. H. ARTHUR LIGON of Spartanburg, MISS HAZEL KILLIAN of Waynesviulle was maid of honor. ----- MISS LEOLA STAFFORD is a visitor this week at the home of MISS W.E. BURNETT on Main St. ----- MISS LOULIE POTTER of Gaffney and MISS JULIA ANNA HARRIS of this city, will be among the students at the Univ. of Chicago this summer. ----- MR. ARTHUR LIGON has returned from Candler, N.C. where he attended the JONES- COPELAND wedding. - MR. ALLISON E. WALKER returned today to his home in Johnson City, Tenn. - MRS. HENRY TWIGGS of Augusta is the guest of her mother, MRS. LAWSON on Spring St. - Bound over by Gantt July 14- B.F. BRYANT and TOM LOCKHART charged with aiding J.H. BROWN in his attempt to escape from the city jail were bound over to court by Magistrate GANTT today. BROWN , serving sentence for disorderly conduct, attempted to escape Monday night. ----- SPARTAN IS HONORED FRANK HODGES, chief funeral director and embalmer for the JOHN F. FLOYD company was elected president of the S.C. Funeral Directors association at their annual session which closed in Columbia last night. This honor came to MR. HODGES as a surprise to his many friends.     3. Nancie, I am sure all of us look forward to these tidbits from the old newspapers! Keep'em coming. It has been 90 years since 1913- lots of changes!
