ORDINATION SERVICES AT ANTIOCH Enoree, June 6, On Saturday evening the following deacons were ordained for the Antioch Baptist Church: Sim PEARSON, LaFayette BARNETT, Reed SKINNER, and Tim MANSINGILL. The pastors and deacons from Selma, Bethel, Enoree, Unity, Lanford, and Cedar Shoals were invited to take part in the ordination services. INMAN: -Mrs. A. M. BISHOP is very sick at her home near here. -A very interesting wager was made here today. One of our most prominent citizens laid five dollars against one that a certain young man could not walk a distance of one mile on one of the rails of the Southern Railway without putting his foot on the ground or on a tie. The young man did not leave the track did not leave the track and "scooped in" the five dollars. The prominent citizen will probably order a kicking machine next week. -Mrs. Minnie SORRELS and Miss Grace BALLENGER are in Spartanburg attending the Wofford commencement. -Misses Frankie and Sarah BEEKS returned to their homes at Laurens this morning after spending several days here with Miss RANSIE and Sue May BROWN. Whiskey In A Hack Constables W. D. HOWARD and Deputy Marshall B. L. TOLAND took charge of about five gallons of whiskey Thursday which they found near the stand-pipe, concealed ina valise in the back of a negro carriage driver, Geo. SWITZER. The whiskey is said to belong to Jep SAXON who is now in jail. SWITZER claims he was innocent as to the contents of the valise and was hired to bring it to the city [Spartanburg]. Free Post Lisa
