    3. 1954 June 27- MRS. LULA HILL STROUD, 72, of 7 Ansel St., Drayton, died after several years of declining health. MRS. STROUD was the d/o the late MR. and MRS. C.W. HILL. Surviving are; her husband, J.F. STROUD; a son, LUTHER J. STROUD of Lake Greenwood; 2 daughters, MRS. J.E. MARLER, Rt.1, and MRS. GERTRUDE GARDNER, Drayton; a brother, E.A. HILL, Rt.6, ; four sisters, MRS. CORA BARKSDALE, Sumer, MRS. C.H. SUMMS, Rt.1, MRS. L.J. OWENS, Rt.1, and MRS. L.M. PENLAND, Laurens; 4 grandchildren. Funeral services at Drayton Baptist church, which she was a member for 31 years. Bobo Funeral home in charge. { My mother tells me that the Strouds came to Drayton from Laurens, along with the Marlers.} ----- Chesnee, June 28- MRS. JULIA CRA?LEY SCRUGGS, 93, former resident of Chesnee and Gaffney, died at Charlotte at the home of a daughter, MRS. SOFIA E. BREEDEN, after a long illness. She was widow of BREW E. SCRUGGS of Chesnee and had lived in Charlotte for the past several years. Surviving are; 5 daughters, MRS. BREEDEN, and MRS. ROSILIE BREEDEN, Chesnee, MRS.MARY FOWLER, Gaffney, MRS. LAURA GOSSETT, Shelby, and MRS. SCOFIELD GILBERT, Hamlet, N.C.; 4 sons, W.D. SCRUGGS, Belmont, N.C., HARRY, Greenville, HORACE, Gaffney, and ELFORD SCRUGGS of Charlotte. Funeral services at Arrowood Baptist Church near here. Blackwell Funeral Home in charge. ----- Union, June 27- MISS WILKS ELIZABETH HAWKINS, 73 died at the home of a nephew, HAYES HYDER of Union. MISS HYDER was a member of Hebron Baptist church. She spent her entire life in Union Co. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
