    2. The Free Lance 2-17-1904 cont. AROUND ABNER CREEK: -Norris SMITH and mother, Mrs. W. D. SMITH, visited her mother, Mrs. R. G. McHUGH on last Saturday. -J. M. BURNETT, who is clerking for D. H. JOHNSON of Reidville, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. BURNETTE [sic] on last Sunday. -Donnie SMITH and sister, Miss Emma visited their sister, Mrs. T. W. McHUGH, last week accompanied by Coller SMITH of Greers. -William WILSON is spending a few weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion WILSON of this place. -Mr. Gabriel of Spartanburg spent the night with J. A. McHUGH on last Thursday night. -Charley WHITE has bought him a new saw mill which he hopes to do good business in the future. -Walter HUGHES of Greers is visiting relatives at this place today. -Our mail carrier, Thomas BROCKMAN, has been sick for the past few days. -Miss May WILSON is spending a while with her sister, Mrs. J. H. HADDEN, near Duncans. -Misses Elleta and Isola McHUGH spent Saturday night and Sunday with their sister, Mrs. Mamie WHITE. -Marvin McHUGH visited Wellford Sunday. Fell From the Bridge While driving across the bridge over Fair Forest creek, near Arkwright Mills Saturday afternoon, with two small children in the buggy, Mrs. J. D. BROWN came next meeting with a serious accident. The horse which was drawing the buggy slipped on the ice and fell headforemost, carrying the buggy, Mrs. BROWN and the two children below. Mrs. BROWN was slightly injured, but the children escaped without injury. Alleged Bigamist in Jail Bert BROCKMAN, colored, was committed to jail Saturday afternoon by Magistrate BERRY on the charge of bigamy. BLOCKMAN [sic] claims Switzer as his home, where it is said, wife no. 2 resides. He is accused of marrying a second time. The case will be heard at the approaching term of the court of general sessions. DUNCANS: -Mrs. H. C. CANNON, who has been quite ill for some time past, is improving very rapidly. -Mrs. H. C. BABER is very ill at present; she is at the home of her parents. -Miss May WILSON of Abner's Creek is visiting relatives in this community. DOTS FROM FLAT ROCK: -E. E. WESTMORELAND spent the night with R. L. WOOD last night. [Feb. 10] -Miss Dora SMITH visited Greers last week. -Miss Annis WOOD visited her sister Mrs. SOUTHERLAND last Friday and Saturday. -The school of Flat Rock is progressing under the management of Easley BROCKMAN. POINTS FROM JOHNSON'S MILL: -Among the visitors of this sectoin last week were Smiley WILLIAMS, Clinton McMILLIN, and Albert ENGLAND. -Miss Sudie WILLIAMS visited Miss Bessie WHITE last week. -Rufus WHITE and John WHITE went hunting last week and killed eighteen rabbits [sic]. LIFE AT ANTIOC: -The farmers of this section met at Woodruff on Saturday afternoon and held a sub-meeting of the Southern Cotton Growers' Association, Ezell LANFORD, Lus WOFFORD and H. W. KELLEY being delegates from this section. -J. J. HEATON and wife paid David GUINN of Cross Anchor a visit Sunday. -Jim HILL of Hillsville, spent Sunday with Mac. TAYLOR in our town. Free Post Lisa
