The earliest one I have is G. W. Gilmore born 1825 (listed in the 1860 Calhoun Co., AL census). The later family called themselves Gilmers. His second wife was Margaret Coppock and they are my children's line. His first wife was Caroline. I'm not certain where in SC they were. A search of the 1850 census index indicates no one by the initials G. W. any place in the US or even a G. After Calhoun Co., they lived in Cleburne Co., AL and later Marshall Co., AL. He had a son named George so I assume his name might have been George, too. If anything fits, let me know.
