    3. Bill Floyd mentioned taking down his website in favor of CDs available through The Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County. I wonder if that includes the cemetery surveys? Bill wrote: July 8, 2007-----Just thought I would let all know that I have cleaned everything off in relation to the contents of the old website. It was kind of raising a few questions along. The move of the Old Tryon Society is proceeding right along. We have moved and rebuilt bookcases for the last three days and still have a few. The movers are coming tomorrow, July 9, 2007, so it won't be too long until you can make plans to visit. I would like to appologize about what happened to the website but it was going to happen sometime anyway so I guess that now is as good as any. I didn't want to place it on rootsweb.com because I just plain don't trust Ancestry.com. Yeah I know, many of you offered space on your sites and I appreciate the offers but even that placed it too much in control of others. Most of the whole "W. D. Floyd Website On Disk" is concerning the Old Tryon County of NC & SC. Therefore I think it should be placed in the hands of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County. Lord knows the society can use what funds the disks might create. The internet has really hurt the societies by have access to info just like what is on the "Website On Disks". I know how it hurts to have had something for free for awhile and then having to pay for it but how many of you pay Ancestry.com for their stuff or how many went out and bought a new PC recently. The "Disk # 1" has everything that was on the original website plus some other stuff. Right now the "Disk # 1" can be purchased for $25.00 plus $2.00 S&H (NC tax for NC residents) but after Old Tryon gets moved I am suggesting that we raise that to $35.00 plus the other. This would give you the old website and as we add more records to the Website On Disks we will make updated # 1 disks and have them available for ten bucks no S&H. This will probably happen about once a year. Disks 2 through 5 are the photos of marriage licenses and Disk # 6 six is other photos of records and such. It is all explained on the Old Tryon link on this webpage. As for as what work that I have done creating this I don't care how many PC's and other places that you give this information to but just don't try and profit from it because it is copyrighted. I really feel like all the people that have helped me and are still helping feel the same way that I do about this. Simply "Buy It And Share It" but don't sell it. What little profit there is needs to go to Old Tryon. YOU CAN STILL HAVE THE WEBSITE BUT WITH SOME DELAYS. W. D. 3. Thank you for the update! Bill put his heart and soul into that site and he has helped so many people with their research. The CD's are well worth the money and he has chosen a great genealogical society to handle them.
