Our oldest known Gilmer was Joseph Gilmer, born in Ireland 1778/9, died in Logan County KY about 1860. My line was from his son William, born 1805 in SC, married Logan County, KY, died Pike County, AR. Most likely William was born in Abbeville, but we continue to follow leads from other areas, including Spartanburg, to identify specific Gilmer line for more research. I will look over some of my other research notes to see if I have anything on your GW Gilmore. Thanks again for you help.
