    3. August 6, 1936. MRS. KIRBY'S MOTHER DIES AT FOREST CITY Forest City, N.C., Aug. 4 - MRS. KATE WILKIE, 68, died at her home here this morning about 10 o'clock, following an illness of several months. A member of, an old Rutherford county family, she was widely known and highly respected throughout the county. MRS. WILKIE was taken ill last winter, double pneumonia developing from which she never fully recovered, her death being caused from a complication of diseases. MRS. WILKIE was born June 28, 1850, being the former MISS KATHERINE JANE HUNTLEY. She was married to GEORGE P. WILKIE on May 16, 1871. She was preceded to the grave by her husband, who died 44 years ago and two of her children, GEORGE P. WILKIE,JR., who passed at the age of 4 and CYRUS ADREAN WILKIE, who died a few years ago. She is survived by the following children: MRS. LILLIAN W. STELLER, of N.Y., MRS.J.B. MEARS, Forest City, MRS. C.D. KIRBY, Gaffney, J.A. WILKIE, Forest City, who for some time made his home in Charlotte and WM. H. WILKIE, Forest City. She is also survived by one brother, GEORGE M. HUNTLEY of Forest City and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the First Baptist church here, of which she was a member. Interment will take place in the HUNTLEY family cemetery near Shiloh. ---------- NEWS ITEMS OF LOCAL INTEREST MRS. JOE RAMSEY, of Cowpens, was admitted to the City hospital here yesterday for treatment. - DORIS, 6 year old daughter of MR. and MRS. BEN WILSON of the Buffalo community, underwent an operation for the removal of her tonsils at the City hospital Tuesday. - Four Gaffney boys left yesterday for Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. to attend the annual CMTC encampment. The quartet included, RANDOLPH STACY, L.C. WARMOTH,JR., WILLIAM BEST and WILLIAM BARNETT. The camp will be in session until Sept. 3. - FRED WHITEN, Limestone Mills man, who has been confined to his home for several months following a train accident near Spartanburg, had a plaster cast encasing his body removed Monday. He was hurt when he fell or was thrown from a speeding freight train near Drayton Mill. Two weeks in bed were prescribed for him before attempting to walk without assistance. ----------- June 6 NEWS ITEMS OF LOCAL INTEREST FLOYD GREENE, 49 year old farmer of the Midway community suffered a stroke of paralysis yesterday. MR. GREENE had worked Thursday cutting wheat on the farm of GIFFIE HAWKINS, with whom he lives. - J.N. LIPSCOMB, son of DR. and MRS. V.H. LIPSCOMB, has been appointed director of sanitation for the Cherokee County Health Dept., succeeding J.T. HANE . MR. LIPSCOMB assumed his duties yesterday. - MR. and MRS. WOODROW PRYOR and MISS ETTRESSE GORDON, of Gaffney, who have been cadets at the Salvation Army school in Atlanta since Sept. last, will graduate Monday night.     3. "MRS. KATE WILKIE, 68" was 86 when she died. Catherine Jane Huntley was the d/o Joseph B. Huntley & Mary Elvira. Joseph was the s/o David Huntley, Sr. & Tency Wilkie. Tency was d/o Rev. William Aaron Wilkie Jr. & Sarah Hunt. Catherine Jane Huntley married George Pinkney Wilkie, Sr. George was s/o Rev. Joab Wilkie & Sarah N. Jay. Joab was Tency's brother. Their father, Rev.
