    3. 1955 COIN MINTED IN 1789 OWNED BY J.S. NESBITT AT DUNCAN J.S. NESBITT, 87, of Duncan has a large bronze piece minted in Spain. The coin was found by his sister, the late LILY NESBITT, when they were playing in the yard of the old Dr. Tom Evans home. They were small children then. When Mr. Nesbitt's sister died, the coin came into his possession. A pet bulldog, Scott, dragged the coin from under the house. The house where the coin was found was constructed by a MR. SHUMATE in 1799. It burned to the ground 20 years ago. Progressive farmer, Mr. Nesbitt has retired. The 450 acre farm is now supervised by his son David, that lives nearby. The old Gilland Spring, a favorite stopping place for emigrants going from Charleston to the back country, is located on his farm. The site of Nesbitt's Forge and Mill on the S. Tyger river, a few miles from the farm, is now used as a power station for Startex Mill. The Clarks operated an iron foundary there too. ----- PACOLET NEWS July 15- MRS.
