1971 Chesnee, March 9.-J. SWAN PARRIS, 99, longlife resident of the State Line section of Cherokee County died at his home following a short illness. His parents were the late GREEN PARRIS and MARY SCRUGGS PARRIS and his wife, MRS. EMILY EDWARDS PARRIS, died 21 years ago. He was the oldest citizen in the section. Funeral services will be held at State Line Baptist church . Burial in church cemetery, with Masonic rites by Chesnee Lodge 294. Surviving are 5 sons, JIM, Cliffside, JOHN, GEORGE, BELT and OSCAR PARRIS, all of Chesnee; a daughter, MRS. LONIE VASSEY, Spartanburg; 47 grandchildren and 6 g-g-grandchildren. He became a member of the lodge 77 years ago when it was organized. He was a Master Mason. Blackwell Funeral home in charge. ----- March 9.- JOE W. PARRIS JR., of N.Y. City ; 4 daughters, MRS. H.E. WILLIAMS, Norfolk, Va., MRS. EARLINE WILSON, Sptbg., MRS. ED SMITH Oklahoma City, Okla., and MRS. GLENN CARVER of Asheville; a brother, M. PARRIS of Marietta, Ga. and 5 grandchildren.
