I am trying to find out who John Jesse Brown was married to. My original info has his wife as Nancy Lanford, widow of Samuel Buise. Now according to what one researcher has come up with he was married three times--1) Nancy Lanford 2) Nancy Buice 3) Nancy Patterson. Did John Jesse Brown have a daughter, Lavinia who married James Monroe Rhodes? James Rhodes was supposedly killed in 1864 by Bill Brown in retaliation for the way James Rhodes treated Bill's stepsister who was James' wife. This is not my line but I am trying to help a friend straighten out his line. Any info on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Susan Brock-Booker

One of my primary lines is the Browns in Spartanburg & Laurens Counties; however, it is hard as the dickens to find where and to whom they all belonged. I work on them 24/7 without getting very far, it seems. Will be glad to share anything that I have. The Jesse Brown that you mentioned, is he the Jesse Brown son of Roger Brown (whose will was probated in Laurens County)? I think this Jesse Brown had a daughter by the name of Lavina, but I have no idea who she married. These folks were in Spartanburg and Laurens county in the early 1800's.
