    3. Greenville Daily- 1903 DEATH NEAR SIMPSONVILLE June 3.- Little XINA , the 2 years and six months old child of MR. and MRS. M.P. BROWN, died at the home of her parents near Simpsonville Saturday morning after an illness of cholera infantum. The funeral services were held at Bethel church, conducted by the Rev. T.J. WHITE. MR. and MRS. BROWN wish to extend to their friends and neighbors their heartfelt thanks for the kindness and assistance rendered during the illness and death of their little daughter. ----- DEATH AT MAULDIN June 3.- MRS. SUSANNAH COX, w/o LEWIS R. COX, died yesterday at her home near Mauldin, after an illness of long duration, borne with Christian resignation. MRS. COX was a d/o the late ABNER HYDE. Besides her husband, nine children are left to mourn the departure of a loving mother. She was a member of Bethel church and her funeral services will be held there at 3 o'clock today. REV. MR. WHITE officiating. ----- VAUGHN-LIGON At the residence of the Rev. R.J. WILLIAMS on August St., Sunday, MISS HETTIE VAUGHAN was married to MR. J.C. LIGON, Rev. J.ROLAND WILLIAMS officiating. The bride was the d/o W.W. VAUGHAN [ spelled this way here ] of the Holly Spring section of the county. The groom is the genial and proprietor of the Star Pressing Club, of this city. [ I have some old Ligon letters if anyone is interested]. ----- JAS. BUSBY , aged 46 years, a well known resident of this city died suddenly on Sunday. Funeral services were held at the residence of his brother, G.R. BUSBY. Interment was in Springwood. ----- MULES WERE BURNED Aug. 30- A prominent citizen of Greers was in the city yesterday and reported the total destruction by fire of the barn , stables, and contents of JAKE DOBSON, a substantial farmer who lives 2 and half miles south of Greers in Spartanburg Co. In the stables were 7 mules and one horse while the shed adjoining the barn contained 3 two horse wagons, 2 buggies, harness and a number of farming implements. Everything was totally destroyed , including a quanitity of feed stuff. MR. DOBSON'S family being compelled to stand by and listen to the walls of the dumb brutes without being able to give them any assistance whatsoever towards their relief. The origin of the fire is unknown but there is every indication to believe that it was set on fire by a certain party in the neighboorhood whom it is said he had recently had trouble. Every effort will be made to locate the guilty party . MR. DOBSON has a number of friends in the county who will sympathize with him in this heavy loss. ----- NEWS AND GOSSIP FROM LAURENS Laurens, Aug. 4- MR. and MRS. J.W. TODD have gone to Waynesville, N.C. for a months stay. - MRS. W.E. LUCAS is spending the summer in Asheville. - MR. W.W. BALL is ' horsebacking it' over the mountains of N.C. - MISS SARAH BALL is visiting in Walhalla. - MISS CLAUDIA IRBY is at Glenns. ------ NEWS FROM MITCHELL Mitchell, S.C. June 23.- MR. I.W. WALDROP, who lived near here, died on June 19, after an illness of several days. The veteran were interred at Camp Creek church, of which he was a member. The deceased leaves two sons by his first marriage, a second companion, and one child to mourn his loss, together with many relatives and friends. He served in the Confederate army. - Those on the sick list here are MRS. A.J. STOKES, MRS. H.S. STOKES, and MR. W.D. HUGHES. MR. J.M.
