Yes! Nancy, I am sure that the CROCER should have been spelled "CROCKER", The "CROCKER" name has been misspelled so many times, if you look on the 1790 S. C. Census you will see that his brother, SOLLOMON surname is spelled as Croaker, Antohny's was spelled Croker as was my great grand father Miles in Ms.was CROKER. I have found the surname spelled the following , french sp. CRE'VECOEUR; CRAKER, CRAWCOUR, CRE(E)GOR, CRECKER, CROKER, CROAKER, LE CROCHERE AS WELL as our present Americanize CROCKER. But, let me assure you it is not COKER, that is another surname taken from the castle "Coker" in Somerset England, another of my lines on my mother's side. It according to what nationality and language, the writer is as to how our name is spelled, I believe CROCER is a typo but sound the "C" and you will hear "CROC(K)ER". Yes, most definatly , this is our ANTHONY CROCKER brothe rof SOLLOMON who fought together in the BATTLE OF COW PENS...
