I've been trying to help with Gus Lee, here's what we've discovered so far -- I looked in the 1880 census and found a Guss Lee born 1875 living with divorced father Wilber. But this family was black and we're looking for white folks -- So Denise sent me this additional info: "A lady at genforum sent me info one time about a Jimison Lee who was trying to get his son from his father-in-law in 1875. He had stated that he and his wife (Laura Wyatt Lee) daughter of Dixon Lee had been separated since 1871 and that his son was 5 years old. I haven't been able to find Laura yet, to find out if this was him or not. I found a Dickson Wyatt but that didn't tell me much. I haven't found a Jimison" I then found this family: 1880 Census Place: Fair Forest, Spartanburg, South Carolina Source: FHL Film 1255240 National Archives Film T9-1240 Page 199A Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace John B.
