    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ABCRAIG Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.spartanburg/1590.2.1.1.1.1.1.1.2.1.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I will send you a little I have on the Floyd family line and perhaps you can find a lead in it. Caleb Floyd of the Maryland branch of the Virginia Floyds was a Quaker. His father before him was a leader in the sect. (You might want to look into the Quaker church records. A lot of the Quakers became Baptist when they migrated from Maryland to Va. ). Laura Bethell says that her grandmother Rachel told her that when Nancy Maynard married Caleb Floyd he stipulated that she was to give up the ownership of her many slaves, after they were liberated the erstwhile slaves remained on the plantation. Soon after Caleb and Nancy were married they left Frederick Co., Md to the Shenandoah Valley and on to N. C. Now this Floyd family settle in or near what was Jackson Co., Tn. Jonathan Floyd married Talitha Bethell. Cloud Bethell married his sister Rachell Floyd. I don't have a family chart but I think I have heard it stated that there were around 9 more Floyd siblings but I could be wrong. Perhaps someone else could fill you in. There is a Floyd Book but I have not seen it. Beth Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
