Spartanburg Herald , Dec. 13, 1908. { I try not to post letters that have been posted before, but these below have been, but worth seeing again ! } Dear Santa Claus: I am a little boy, 13 years old, have no father or mother, live with my sister, BIRTIE GOWAN. I want a train and a little man, and a flying Jinny and a man on a horse, bananas, apple, candy, and everything else that is good to eat that you have for a little orphan boy. I work in the mill. Am not able to go to school, wish I could. Your good little boy, SOLOMON CLAYTON --- Dear Santa Claus: Will you please bring me a little train and a drum and horn and some roman candles, firecrackers, a bum stick and candy and oranges, apples and anything will be very much apreciated by your little 12 year dolpher in the mill. GARNER THOMAS --- Dear Santa Claus: Do please bring me a doll and tea set, a doll set of furniture, a chair and apples, candy, walnuts, and some good books. Now Santa don't think I am asking too much as I wish these so much and without you bring them, I can't get them. I am 11 years old and stay with my grandma and work in the mill. Run three on four sides. Your good girl, MAUD GOWAN --- Dear Old Santa Claus : I want you to bring a doll set of furniture, a bed, a safe, a doll, a stove, a table and chairs a piano, a cradle, a broom. So good-by, Santy, Your little friend, ANNIE NOBLIN P.S. I live on Forest street, Spartanburg. I am 11 years old and work in the mill every day. --- Santa Claus: I am waiting for you. I am very glad to hear about you. Santa Claus, old JOHN is so cross and HARRY and OLELE is good, but they will not work. OLELE is good about sweeping the house. Goodby, CHARLTON DILL --- Dear Old Santa Claus: I want you to bring me some firecrackers and apples and candy. I want a knife and a saw and some raisins.
