Susan, I don't have the parents for Robert Vaughn(an). One person suggested to me that Robert was a brother of Rev. Ludwell Bacon Vaughan-but didn't offer any sources. Perhaps looking at the early Vaughn(an) deeds, wills, probate, etc might provide some answers. I don't have a birth date for Henry but he was probably born in Spartanburg Co SC and died probably sometime 1863-1864. He was married to Mary M. Townsend 15 Aug 1860 in Phillips Co AR according to Arkansas Marriage Record Index. Elijah Holtzclaw married as his second wife the widow of his brother Mary M. Townsend Holtzclaw 9 Jan 1873 in Phillips Co AR according to Arkansas Marriage Record Index. The thing that puzzles me is that there seem to be two daughters named Jane according to census records and/or probate records. I don't know what happened to the first Jane. The 1840 census plus later records would indicate 11 children at least-although I don't have 11 names.
