Hi, My grandmother was Leila Sprouse Fowler, dau. of John Sprouse. [Aug 1824-1907] I firmly believe that John Sprouse was the son of William Sprouse [1798-1881] They are buried in adjacent plots at Fosters Chapel UMC in Kelton SC. I have no proof that John was Williams son but am seeking confirmation from anyone who may have such proof. Family trees on Ancestry.com appear to indicate that William Sprouse was married [?] to three different women, Nicey Millwood, Sarah Hames and Angeline Eubanks. If you can help me unravel any part of this mystery please contact me. Raymond Fowler MacMahon McDonough, GA

Our oldest known Gilmer was Joseph Gilmer, born in Ireland 1778/9, died in Logan County KY about 1860. My line was from his son William, born 1805 in SC, married Logan County, KY, died Pike County, AR. Most likely William was born in Abbeville, but we continue to follow leads from other areas, including Spartanburg, to identify specific Gilmer line for more research. I will look over some of my other research notes to see if I have anything on your GW Gilmore. Thanks again for you help. The earliest one I have is G. W. Gilmore born 1825 (listed in the 1860 Calhoun Co., AL census). The later family called themselves Gilmers. His second wife was Margaret Coppock and they are my children's line. His first wife was Caroline. I'm not certain where in SC they were. A search of the 1850 census index indicates no one by the initials G. W. any place in the US or even a G. After Calhoun Co., they lived in Cleburne Co., AL and later Marshall Co., AL. He had a son named George so I assume his name might have been George, too. If anything fits, let me know. Maybe this will get clues for you. If anyone else has this family, would like to hear from them! Ann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. have you tried the NC State Archives? They have alot of the early records on line. I found one of my relatives & his revolutionary war data there. I also found some data on him at the NARA,..which was even more surprising On 7/7/07, gc-gateway@rootsweb.com <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: sabromavage > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.spartanburg/5339/mb.ashx > > > Message Board Post: > > I'm looking for additional documentation on one family line. Thank you for the update! Bill put his heart and soul into that site and he has helped so many people with their research. The CD's are well worth the money and he has chosen a great genealogical society to handle them. I wonder if that includes the cemetery surveys? Bill wrote: July 8, 2007-----Just thought I would let all know that I have cleaned everything off in relation to the contents of the old website. It was kind of raising a few questions along. The move of the Old Tryon Society is proceeding right along. We have moved and rebuilt bookcases for the last three days and still have a few. The movers are coming tomorrow, July 9, 2007, so it won't be too long until you can make plans to visit. I would like to appologize about what happened to the website but it was going to happen sometime anyway so I guess that now is as good as any. I didn't want to place it on rootsweb.com because I just plain don't trust Ancestry.com. Yeah I know, many of you offered space on your sites and I appreciate the offers but even that placed it too much in control of others. Most of the whole "W. D. Floyd Website On Disk" is concerning the Old Tryon County of NC & SC. Therefore I think it should be placed in the hands of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County. Lord knows the society can use what funds the disks might create. The internet has really hurt the societies by have access to info just like what is on the "Website On Disks". I know how it hurts to have had something for free for awhile and then having to pay for it but how many of you pay Ancestry.com for their stuff or how many went out and bought a new PC recently. The "Disk # 1" has everything that was on the original website plus some other stuff. Right now the "Disk # 1" can be purchased for $25.00 plus $2.00 S&H (NC tax for NC residents) but after Old Tryon gets moved I am suggesting that we raise that to $35.00 plus the other. This would give you the old website and as we add more records to the Website On Disks we will make updated # 1 disks and have them available for ten bucks no S&H. This will probably happen about once a year. Disks 2 through 5 are the photos of marriage licenses and Disk # 6 six is other photos of records and such. It is all explained on the Old Tryon link on this webpage. As for as what work that I have done creating this I don't care how many PC's and other places that you give this information to but just don't try and profit from it because it is copyrighted. I really feel like all the people that have helped me and are still helping feel the same way that I do about this. Simply "Buy It And Share It" but don't sell it. What little profit there is needs to go to Old Tryon. YOU CAN STILL HAVE THE WEBSITE BUT WITH SOME DELAYS. W. D. I noticed Roebuck Baptist Church's Cemetary was not on the list. ---- Janet Moore <janetmoore@prodigy.net> wrote: > Thank you for the update!
