Subsequently, I found reference to Middle Tyger Baptist Church (the former name of Duncan First Baptist Church until the 1920's) in the Furman University library, special collections. William Aaron Wilkie Jr. & Sarah Hunt. Catherine Jane Huntley married George Pinkney Wilkie, Sr. George was s/o Rev. Joab Wilkie & Sarah N. Jay. Joab was Tency's brother. Their father, Rev. William Aaron Wilkie, Jr. was s/o William Wilkie, Sr. & Elizabeth Jobs who were married in 1758. jeff August 6, 1936. MRS. KIRBY'S MOTHER DIES AT FOREST CITY Forest City, N.C., Aug. 4 - MRS. KATE WILKIE, 68, died at her home here this morning about 10 o'clock, following an illness of several months. A member of, an old Rutherford county family, she was widely known and highly respected throughout the county. MRS. WILKIE was taken ill last winter, double pneumonia developing from which she never fully recovered, her death being caused from a complication of diseases. MRS. WILKIE was born June 28, 1850, being the former MISS KATHERINE JANE HUNTLEY. She was married to GEORGE P. WILKIE on May 16, 1871. She was preceded to the grave by her husband, who died 44 years ago and two of her children, GEORGE P. WILKIE,JR., who passed at the age of 4 and CYRUS ADREAN WILKIE, who died a few years ago. She is survived by the following children: MRS. LILLIAN W. STELLER, of N.Y., MRS.J.B. MEARS, Forest City, MRS. C.D. KIRBY, Gaffney, J.A. WILKIE, Forest City, who for some time made his home in Charlotte and WM. H. WILKIE, Forest City. She is also survived by one brother, GEORGE M. HUNTLEY of Forest City and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the First Baptist church here, of which she was a member. Interment will take place in the HUNTLEY family cemetery near Shiloh.

Bethel is now the First Baptist of Woodruff . The cemetery behind the ARP church (now closed and sold)belongs to F.B.C of Woodruff, across the street in the Emma Gray Methodist Church, and behind it is the ARP Cemetery. (told you it was confusing) My husband and my self are trying to bring the cemetery records up to date.A very hard time consuming task. i will look up you names and see if we can help you. My grandmother was a Waters before she married an Alewine. Her parents are buried in the SharonUnited Methodist Church Cemetery off Hwy 101 in Greer. My great uncle her brother, the only one left in the family, told me that there was an abandon cemetery some where near Sharon Church where is grandparents are buried. Their names were Jeff and Mary Bagwell Waters. My grandmothers parents were named William D. and Edna Christopher Waters. There is another Waters buried at Sharon Church but most of the Christophers are buried at Sharon Church. Any more information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Virgie Quinn Sanders was my mother in law. Thomas Quinn lived on the mill hill at Cowpens. I also knew a Monk Linder that lived on what was called Sugar Creek road. Are they the same? Does anyone know where these churches are in Spartanburg Co., SC. I don't think that Tyger Baptist refers to the old Tyger Baptist in Taylors, SC. The Sexton siblings (and spouses) that are buried in the church(es) above lived in the general vicinity of Reidville. Thanks in advance for any help.
