RE: "May 8, 1880 JONES BLAKE born in Virginia, August 29, 1805; moved to So. Carolina when young; married Elizabeth M. Allen in 1829; wife died in 1859; then married Mrs. Elizabeth L. Gulley; died April 8, 1880." Thanks for posting this death announcement. I didn't have the actual birth date of Jones Blake. I got information on him from "Goodspeed's History of Southern AR" Quachita Co., AR p 65 as he supposedly moved to Nevada Co., AR before his first wife died. His son moved to Quachita Co., AR. Jones is the son of Stephen Blake who was the son of another Jones Blake, the brother of my ancestor, Bethany Blake. Their parents lived in Isle of Wright Co. VA and then Orange Co., NC. One or more of these Blakes were in Spartanburg Co. SC at one time. I'm not certain which one. Dear Listers: I want to thank everyone for the help provided in my search for Robert Pinkney Pryor. I was fortunate enough to be given his death date - Nov. 17, 1925 (80 years old). I am writing to the Health Dept. to request his death certificate. I do have another question for you . . . Does a marriage index exist? And if so, for what years? Thanks very much! Karen

In 1998, I posted the following message: "Snow, Edmond (born abt 1752, died1823 in Greenville Co. SC) Please send me information about any Edmond (or Edmund) Snow in VA or NC. I already have information about an Edmond Snow witnessing a deed in 1780 in Surry Co. NC. Edmond's wife was Sarah (possibly Robertson). Known children are: Barksdale Snow, Isham Snow, and John Robertson Snow. I would like information about any Snows or their descendants in upper South Carolina. Thanks for any help you can give me. Wanda Snow Franklin" I would like to go on record that after further research, I am no longer confident that Edmond Snow is the father of Barksdale Snow (c1786-1854), although I believe that they are related. I also have no evidence that Sarah's maiden name may have been Robertson. I would love to receive any information you have about these people. Wanda Snow Franklin

Theodore Bright was born about 1859 in , Spartanburg Co, SC. 7 iv. Oli Bright was born about 1864. 8 F v. Martha Bright was born about 1866 in Cherokee Co, SC. 3. Chesterfield Bright () was born about 1833 in , Spartanburg Co, SC. Chesterfield married Louisa about 1852. Louisa was born about 1834. They had the following children: 9 F i. Amanda Bright was born about 1853 in , Spartanburg Co, SC. 10 M ii. Lee Bright was born about 1858 in , Spartanburg Co, SC. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Now for the mistakes in the info on the Bright family buried at Woods Chapel-- Lucinda A. is not the wife of William but she is the wife of M.F. Bright. Her tombstone says Lucinda A. Bright --wife of M. F. Bright. REPLACEMENT STONE says Culvin Bright and not Calvin. I know that his son Culvin, Jr's stone says Calvin but I personally know that the replacement stone says Culvin. Culvin was his name. Thank you for the information. What do you think about this family, is it the same one. I have Calvin Bright born about 1865 and died before 1945. I was told that his parents wer Chesterfied and Louisa from some of the family. But, I have him married to Elizabeth Cobb. My grandmother gave me the information. Elizabeth was her aunt. So I think that she would know. She has been dead (my grandmother) a long time now,so I can't ask her any more. But, in one of Calvin and Elizabeth's children obits) it gave a half sister . She was Mrs. Burt Price. So one of them must have been married before. Do you have any informtion on this. Thank you Judy Carver ----- Original Message ----- From: Sshiel6259@aol.com To: njcarver@bellsouth.net Sent: Saturday, February 08, 2003 11:47 AM Subject: Re: [SCSPARTA] Re: Tobias Bright/Rachel McElrath Joye, Chesterfield Bright born 1824.
